Hernandez Hosts Annual Diabetes and Kidney Screening Event

CHICAGO, Ill. – Committed to raising awareness about the benefits of yearly health screenings, state Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, member of the Latino Caucus, hosted her annual Kidney and Diabetes Screening last Saturday at MacNeal Hospital.

“Regular health screenings are important for the well-being of our communities, so that any potential problems can be detected early,” said Hernandez. “The Governor’s lack of focus on passing a budget has forced social service organizations to close their doors on those who need them most and events like these are needed now more than ever. I will continue fighting to ensure that no resident of this state loses access to life-saving health services.”

Over 70 residents attended Hernandez’s health screening event held on March 18th. Vendors such as the American Heart Association, offered information, services and free blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol screenings.
